the thread was never broken

Hello beautiful soul.

There are moments in parenting when the connection feels lost.

A child withdraws.

A teenager closes their bedroom door.

Conflict arises.

Words are spoken in anger.

Distance grows where closeness once lived.

In those moments, it is easy to wonder:

Have I failed?

Did I do something wrong?

Will we ever find our way back to one another?

The Red Thread offers us a different perspective.

What if the thread was never broken?

What if beneath the struggles, the misunderstandings, and the changing seasons of life, the thread remains exactly where it has always been?

Because children do not lose their essence.

The curious child remains.

The creative spirit remains.

The wisdom they arrived with remains.

Sometimes life covers it over with fear, expectations, wounds, or experiences.

But hidden is not gone.

The same is true for us.

As parents, we too lose sight of our own thread.

We become consumed by schedules, responsibilities, worries, and the endless work of caring for others.

We forget what brings us joy.

We forget our own curiosity.

We forget the parts of ourselves that feel most alive.

Untangling is not about becoming perfect parents.

It is not about never making mistakes.

It is not about always getting it right.

Untangling is the practice of returning.

Returning to ourselves.

Returning to our children.

Returning to love when fear has taken the lead.

Again and again.

Notice.

Listen.

Let go.

Trust.

Because the thread may stretch.

It may tangle.

But it never breaks.

And perhaps parenting is not the work of creating who our children become.

Perhaps it is the sacred work of trusting who they have been all along.

With Love,

Maria
