the fear beneath control

Hello beautiful soul.
Most parents want the same things for their children.
We want them to be safe.
Happy.
Healthy.
Loved.
And because we love them so deeply, fear naturally arises.
What if they get hurt?
What if they make mistakes?
What if life is harder for them than we hoped?
Fear itself is not the problem.
Fear is part of being human.
The difficulty comes when fear quietly takes the wheel.
Fear often disguises itself as good parenting.
It sounds like protection.
Responsibility.
Preparation.
Guidance.
But beneath many attempts to control lies a frightened part of us trying to prevent pain—ours or theirs.
Perhaps we insist on certain choices because we fear uncertainty.
Perhaps we push achievement because we fear struggle.
Perhaps we become overly protective because we remember what it felt like not to be safe ourselves.
Children have a remarkable way of activating our unhealed places.
Not because they are doing anything wrong.
But because relationships invite hidden parts of us into the light.
This is why parenting can feel so humbling.
No matter how much healing we have done, our children continue to reveal new layers waiting to be untangled.
Red Thread Parenting asks us to become curious when fear arises.
Instead of asking:
How do I make this stop?
We might ask:
What is this fear trying to protect?
What experience from my past is being touched?
What would love do if fear were not in charge?
Untangling is not about eliminating fear.
It is about learning to listen to it without allowing it to lead.
Because children do not need perfect parents.
They need parents willing to notice.
To listen.
To untangle.
And to choose love again and again.
With Love,
Maria
