Hello beautiful soul.

When people hear the phrase "following the child," they sometimes imagine stepping back and letting children do whatever they want.

That isn't what I mean.

Following the child is an act of deep attention.

It means becoming a keeper of the thread.

A keeper notices.

A keeper listens.

A keeper protects.

A keeper pays attention to the things that make a child come alive.

They notice the stories the child tells repeatedly.

The questions they ask.

The dreams they share.

The interests they return to again and again.

A keeper understands that every child carries something precious.

Not something to be manufactured.

Not something to be improved.

Something to be protected.

As parents, teachers, and caregivers, we cannot walk our children's paths for them.

But we can create environments where their thread remains visible.

We can offer safety.We can offer love.We can offer trust.

And perhaps most importantly, we can remember that our children are not projects to complete.

They are people becoming.

The red thread was there before we met them.

And if we are willing to pay attention, they will show us where it leads.
