looking beneath behavior

Hello beautiful soul.

When a child is struggling, we often focus on the behavior.

The tantrum.

The refusal.

The tears.

The arguing.

The shutting down.

We ask ourselves how to stop it.

But what if behavior is not the problem?

What if behavior is communication?

Every behavior tells a story.

Some behaviors say:I need connection.

Some say:I don't feel safe.

Some say:I need more freedom.

Some say:I need help expressing something I don't have words for yet.

When we focus only on correcting behavior, we may miss the deeper message underneath.

The Red Thread invites us to become curious.

Instead of asking, "How do I stop this?"

We begin asking, "What is this child trying to tell me?"

The answer may not come immediately.

Sometimes it requires observation.Sometimes it requires patience.Sometimes it requires looking at what is happening inside us as parents.

But often beneath the behavior is a child reaching for connection—to themselves, to us, or to something important they have lost sight of.

The behavior is not the thread.

The behavior is the tug.

With Love,

Maria
